Cruising

A large percentage of the yacht owners at the DMYC are cruising sailors, whether it’s short trips along the coast, or passage making to Scotland. We run a number of Cruise-In-Company events over the summer months, and anyone is welcome.

For those who don’t feel like going too far, there are always opportunities to go for a jaunt around the bay – our cruising members are quite happy to take people out for a bit of a sail and a spot of lunch (though you may need to bring your own food!).

Racing

Each year, DMYC organises its own racing series – the September Series for keelboats (September-October) and the Frostbite Series for dinghies (November-March). From April to September, many members take part in racing organised by Dublin Bay Sailing Club, one of the largest organisations of its kind in the country, providing racing for both one-design and handicap classes.
Currently, club members sail the following classes
Most Dun Laoghaire-based class associations are actively seeking new members, both as boat owners and as crew.

Community

The DMYC, and its members, are involved with the local sailing community in a number of ways, including supporting Access Sailing, working with the Dun Laoghaire Sea Scouts, providing a meeting place for various small clubs to hold things like AGMs, and helping the local dive clubs by providing access to our pontoon.

We also have a partnership with the Dun Laoghaire Powerboat School; they offer our members a discounted rate on their courses, and they also provide our volunteer boatmen with the training required to keep up to date on their certification.
